"The human experience is a dance which unfolds itself in the world and with others." Alva Noe
I first started dancing ballet, hip hop, modern, partner dances and dancefloor. All of these styles have influenced my movements and work. As much as dance helped me grow up and stay connected to my body, having been in various dance competitions as a teenager made me question the competitive culture around dance. Working with various choreographers and teachers over the last few years (strongly influenced by contemporary dance) has changed my whole experience and purpose of dance. I realized that: „Dance is not necessarily graceful, pretty, or spectacular. Dance can be grotesque, ugly, clumsy, funny, frightening and conflicted.“ Anna Halprin Movement can connect the mind with the body to experience both as one and to explore the neverending world of emotion and expression; a language without words. I now work mainly with contact improvisation, dancing in response to a space, aesthetic education through the exploration of movement and developing dance performances with biographical material. |
