"As adults we should play intensively until we stop putting the terms achievement and success above openness and new experiences." (Albert Vinzens)
Theater is one way to a creative, social and cultural way of learning. Working with the different qualities that participants bring inevitably means working with personal conflicts, interests and aspirations. These are aspects that move or numb us in life. It is also a way to explore a theme or a topic that moves our society, therefore moving us. Those topics can be approached through theatrical qualities such as immediacy, sensuality, physicality and the communication between actors and audience. Drama is an experimental playground for interdisciplinary forms of working, learning and creating art together. Whether it is the development of a new performance or working with a written theatre piece, both give the possibility to explore and learn about humanity and oneself. |
"I can show a young actor what gesture to use when pointing to the moon. Everything else lies in his own hands." ... (an old kabuki actor)
... "For me it does not matter at all whether after the performance the viewer remembers how beautiful the gesture was, I am only interested in one thing: did you see the moon?" (Yoshi Oida) |
