Working with masks to me means learning to love human mistakes.
The process of mask making is tactile, personal and self-explorative. Acting with the extremes of characters and developing ones own mask character is a playful and focused process of exploring and understanding your own capacity. This allows you to gain tolerance and understanding towards others. It is a connection between physical theatre, fine art and training perception, expression and presence. |

Mask making
A sensual experience of working with a wide range of different materials such as clay, gypsum and paint. A process to give form to something that is coming from the inside and gains a form on the outside. Different approaches can either go into the direction of really working from the inside towards the outside, allowing the result of a mask to be a surprise. Or people that surround us can be the inspiration. The creator embodies the character that emerges through the process. |

Acting with mask
What can be hidden behind a mask and what will you disclose about yourself through it? How can the body communicate when the facial expressions are gone? Acting with masks is an exploration to listen to inner impulses, explore the world of spontaneity and the difference in interaction when outer appearance changes. Playing with masks supports physical presence and gives space to explore new ways of expressing oneself. Performances can either be developed to happen on stage or in public areas. |
